Q+A With Fritz Galette, Ph.D.
What unique perspective do you bring to your practice?
My perspective is formed by my background. I am the son of Haitian immigrants born and raised in Brooklyn New York. I received a Jesuit education at Fordham University and obtained a PhD in clinical psychology. I have worked in the field of mental health for 30 years while also working with clients in various organizations in both the profit and non profit sectors.
Describe major career/life decisions that led you to your current role. How have these experiences shaped the way you engage with clients?
In 2002 I started my own clinical practice in mid-town Manhattan. My clients were generally people working in the area. From the mailroom to the boardroom my clients represented all rungs of the corporate ladder. Often people sought me out to help resolve a pressing mental health issues and crises. Once the crises were resolved we would move on to less clinical areas and into quality-of-life issues. This included focusing on work-life balance, career planning, stress management and improving interpersonal relations. There was demand for coaching, counseling and training human relations, leadership, communication skills, emotional intelligence and managing others.
What are a couple of your biggest successes?
My biggest successes have come from clients achieving and exceeding their intended goals and objectives. It has been very rewarding to establish a relationship with clients, assess needs, tailor and set goals and achieve them through our work together.
